One of the most common issues we see as practitioners is lower back pain. During their lifetime, approximately 80% of Australians will experience once episode of low back pain. The cause may be due to an associated health condition such as arthritis, a traumatic accident, a sport or workplace injury, with some causes remaining unknown.
Back pain may also lead to changes in bowel or bladder control, tingling/change in sensation down your legs, and inability to sleep comfortably.
It is important to know that there may be restrictions of movement initially when starting exercise, but it is important to build your capacity and work with an Exercise Physiologist to ensure you are working at the right intensity to achieve your goals, and work towards pain free movement. Back pain is too often considered ‘normal’, so it is important to understand your pain and work with a professional to help your management and recovery.
